Questions about this calendar
What is the PNW Book Calendar?
It is a single calendar of author readings, book clubs, story times, and other public events at independent bookstores, public libraries, and literary organizations in the Pacific Northwest. Each listing is copied as its source published it and links back to that source's own event page. Nothing here is a paid or sponsored placement.
How often is it updated?
An automated weekly sweep reads each source's own published events feed or page. The data pull date stated in the footer and in the machine readable feeds is the record of when the data was actually pulled, not a promise about the future.
Which areas does it cover?
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, and western Montana. Coverage is broadest for stores, libraries, and literary organizations that publish a structured event feed; the current source count is stated in the footer.
Are library events included?
Yes. Library author talks, book clubs, and library-hosted readings are included alongside bookstore events and literary organization events, each tagged by source.
Why do so few events show an author?
Most stores and libraries publish an event's author name inside the event title rather than as its own field, so the author index only lists the events where a source's own feed provided a separate author field. That count is stated honestly on the author index page rather than guessed from titles.
How do I get a source's events listed, or fix a listing?
Listings are read automatically from each source's own published events page, so the surest way to appear here is to keep that page current and public. A direct submission address is not open yet; when it is, it will be posted on this page.
Machine-readable feeds: /events.json, /events.ics, /llms.txt. Author index.
